Project Description

The Royal Spanish Golf Federation finally obtained a 52 hectare site in Madrid city, 8 km from the city centre, where their new headquarters were to be set together with an 18 hole golf course with a large driving range in order to promote a golf school.

A selection procedure was organized and our team won the competition in 2000, being awarded the design contract and the direction of the construction works.

Our design proposed a 72 par 18 hole course, 6.417 meters in length, with a driving range prepared for 100 players, 6 par 3 holes, 2 putting greens, chipping-green, and a specific short game area for our national teams.

The site was a former dump area from the earthworks of M-40 highway, and a large bulk earthwork was required. Our balanced cut and fill plan moved over 1 million cubic meters of earth in order to create the golf course rough grades.

The design prepared a links-like landscape for the course, setting large greens, large bunkers and a severe rough, with only three water features strategically affect holes 9, 16,17 and 18.

The course have hosted Spanish national Open (PGA European Tour) in 2007 and 2018, and have had many international and national tournaments played on its holes.

It is the largest and most important public golf course in Spain.
